YAOSM developer bell has released version 1.8 of YAOSM (Yet Another Open Source Modchip) a PIC based open source modchip firmware for the Wii. The new firmware adds a lot of new features. Most notably is the inclusion of support for Dual Layer Discs and making the 12F629 version of the firmware pin compatible with Wiinja Chips. From the Release Notes:

• Sacrificed one of the status LED in favour of becoming 100% pin compatible with Wiinja chips which means that the chip can also be disabled by solder a wire between pin3 and the middle pin on the reset switch.
• Added a configuration byte to control the behaviour of the status LED when the chip is idle.
• Added a configuration byte to enable/disable the chip disable feature.
• Added support for dual layer discs.
• Added GameID overriding for GameIDs starting with W and Y (Makes them usable again on firmware 3.0)
• Changed GameID for future config discs

i dont know how to install this on my wii help? i dont know how to find out what modchip i have either

i just swapped from wiikey to yaosm, and i must say i like it mucho bettero ......oh and look here for a tutorial on installing a yaosm chip http://psx-scene.com/forums/yaosm/57850-yaosm-scratch.html
