Flexia:  Are you using YAOSM 1.8.... and are you following the instructions carefully.  Using anything other that YAOSM 1.8 gave me all sorts of hit and miss results, however 1.8 worked for me first time every time.

Quite an impressive homebrew player there, nice one indeed.

Works quite nicely here on a Cyclowiz v2 Pal console and PAL/NTSC movies both.  Thumbs Up

Took me a while to figure out that i had to press Z twice to get the Wii to recognise the new disc, but after that its been smooth sailings.

Reminds me of my first dvd-player .. just without the hoover like noices.

Cheers  Cheers

http://psx-scene.com/forums/nintendo-news/58684-team-ninja-issues-wii-laser-warning.html

In that it warns about playing movies. Should it also apply here? Also, where can I buy a wii-boss chip.

ihaveworms,
You could link to the original post:
http://www.wiinja.com/Foros/viewtopic.php?t=1549

And LittleJonny has made mention of this already (1 page back in this exact thread):
http://forums.nintendo-scene.com/index.php?topic=643.msg2016#msg2016

You can find resellers for Wii-Boss here:

We posted the Wiinja warning as well: http://nintendo-scene.com/471

it just happened to be part of the Wiinja v3 release notes.

using ANY laser for something other than it's designed purpose will wear it out faster, this including reading DVD+/-R/RW Media.... it's a risk anyone who mods their console for any reason to be aware of. I highly doubt playing DVD movies on your Wii is any cause for alarm, at least not any worse for it than playing games from writable media (which is probably the most taxing on a laser).

Where's the source code? gpl?
I was wondering this myself. the DVD apps seems to be a special compile of MFE/GC Linux and if that's the case distributing without the source and without the GPL is a HUGE violation of the License...  Angry

I see an Australian site that lists it for $0, so an error or something. Then I can't read the spanish site. I also live in the US so I was wondering if the Australian site ships internationally.

I didn't know that it was harder on the laser to read DVD-R media. hmm interesting. Do you think it will cause a significant life span shortage?

it's hard to say because it can vary from console to console but based on every other console I've ever modified I doubt you'd even notice the effects through the console's lifespan.

Alright thanks for your help. One other thing. I stumbled onto this thread on afterdawn:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/550791

Thats the only english site I see on his resellers list at the moment and well, that kinda puts me off asking them if they will ship to the US if I buy from them. Even though they have it listed for $0. I can't find anywhere (me living in USA) for me to order this thing.
