I don't see why not...

if you're asking for a tutorial I don't know of any, but the Team Xtenders Hot Rocks case has a DVD window so there's no reason you couldn't make your own.

none that I've ever seen...

I say just give it a look long look and be smart about it and you'll figure out what's safe and what isn't.

load and unload a game a bunch of times to get a feel for how it works and what you can remove without damaging it.

This is what modding is all about, not everything has been figured out before hand and will be dished out in a silver plated tutorial.
