This is almost as risky as installing a modchip. Why risking the life of your Wii and disabling the normal SD usage for just $10?

Any mods that you do, you take a risk and I was willing to take that risk.  If you have good hands, follow instructions and also double check your soldering to make sure its making good contact and its not bridging to any other joints.

I haven't tried GC games as I do not have any to try and I bought a Wii to only play Wii games. I'll try one later but for the mean time all i was worried about, was to create backups of original Wii games so I could store them and not get them damage by my kids! 

Like the Tutorial said on the official site, you take the SD card in/out when you want to use it for either GC or Wii SD - simply loving it.

no, this is by far not as risky a modchip install.
also the sd usage stays intact.

I did this mod yesterday and it works flawlessly i can honestly say its well worth it its much better than having that old nintendo SD adapter sticking out the side of my Wii. ill include some pictures to show since this is my first propper post on this forums

if your on the fence about doing this mod i can say it was dead set easy and if you dont have a geko it a money saver and if your like me and did then its much more convienent and cosmetically looking its much better kind of like the internal wave bird mod which ive also done.

how long did it take you to dumb a gc to sd card?
I do it with wiihttp dumper and it takes a hour and a half for 1 game.

i'm gonna do this mod as soon as there is a GC iso loader for the wii

will it allow you to make game backups on the sd card with the proper software ?

For my vote, the nVidia chipset and drivers for AutoCAD, VIZ
gets it.  So just about any card by PNY with the Quadro chipset
will be pleasing.  Most also support dula monitors bonus.
